Introducing our new Gantry Vacuum Lifting System

Our constant investment in the most up-to-date technology and handling systems is key to our decades of providing the highest quality products to our customers. Our latest investment is our Gantry Vacuum Lifting System which was a £100,000 investment.

This system enables us to manufacture large sealed units up to 5 square meters in area on two of our 5 production lines

More expensive than Argon gas, krypton gas gives a more energy efficient performance when used in small to average cavity sizes.

Bottero Combination Float/Laminated Cutting Table

Delivery and installation of our new Bottero combination cutting table is underway, This machine replaces an old Lisec cutting table that was used to cut our optimised pattern glass requirement.
In evaluating a replacement machine we decided to invest in a combination table that will also give us the benefit of increased laminated cutting capacity, this was key in our decision making process as the demand for laminated products is increasing.

Custom Glass Invests in New Software

Custom Glass has invested in major software improvements for a number of our production processes, these include:
◦A bespoke developed programme in partnership with Glaston and Jotika to automate the bed loading & recipe setting on our Glaston toughening plant.
◦Georgian bar production software that enables efficient production of our Georgian bar requirement in line with the production sequence
◦Internal remake tracking system that improves traceability throughout the factory and reduces waste.
Software can sometimes be overlooked, however here at Custom we believe that continual improvements in the software used is what helps us to stay ahead of the game and

Atlantic Washing Machine & IG Alignment Station

Custom Glass have recently installed a new Atlantic glass washing machine with an IG unit alignment station to produce small sized IG units along with our leaded design requirements.
Production of smaller sized units takes up valuable production time on our automated lines and this investment has improved our production of these manual items.

Major Investment Phase 2

2021 saw a lot of major investment here at Custom Glass, Phase 2 of our improvement plan is now starting, and we have taken delivery of additional Glaston (Bystronic) IG equipment this month to fully automate our manual seal production line, a new automatic transport pad applicator & a fully automated sealing robot is being connected to our existing line.
This investment completes the automation of all 3 of our production lines and future proofs our production process.

Additional Dispatch Storage

Our new dispatch storage unit is now operational, this additional storage facility gives us more flexibility in the loading and dispatch areas and keeps the workflow inline with our production processes.

Lisec KSR-KSV Edge Seaming Line & Glaston FC Series Toughening Plant

This month sees the delivery & installation of our new Lisec KSR edge seaming line and a new Glaston FC Series toughening plant.
The new KSR-KSV edging line will sit alongside our existing Lisec KSL edger, giving Custom Glass two top of the range high speed lines to feed our new 6m x 3m Glaston FC Series toughening plant.
Installation of these two significant pieces of machinery sees the completion of phase 1 of the restructure to our production process flow that we have committed to since the completion of our new factory extension.

This equipment will more than double our toughened glass capacity and help reduce energy costs as more glass can be processed in the same timeframe, allowing us to continue to grow and maintain our service to our customers.

New Hegla Cutting Table

The Easter break has seen Custom Glass install a new Hegla Optimax cutting table with laser glass marking system, this installation allows us to remove an older Lisec table to make room for our pending delivery of a new Glaston FC Series Toughening Plant.

New Delivery Vehicles

Custom Glass have taken delivery of 6 brand new 7.5t vehicles, replacing some of the older vehicles within our fleet. Sitting alongside our articulated & 18-tonne wagons this investment keeps our wheels turning and our products delivered on time.

New Argon Gas Storage

Increased volumes in production means a higher storage demand for Argon Gas on site.
This new tank supplied & installed by BOC holds 4 times the capacity of our older tanks and is filled once a month by a large tanker.
This gives us uninterrupted production through our 3 automated gas production lines.

New Bystronic IG Machinery

Our Bystronic high speed IG Production equipment has now been installed and is up and running…..
IG unit production requires specialist equipment and Custom have invested in a brand-new full high-speed line with auto transport pad applicator and robotic triple glazed / shape sealing capabilities, a further new auto pad applicator and sealing robot has also been added to one of our existing Bystronic lines.
Having 2 fully automated Bystronic production lines with tandem gas presses sitting alongside our existing lines now gives us a daily capacity in excess of 2500 units.

Custom Glass moves into its new purpose-built factory extension.

Custom Glass are proud to announce that our new factory extension is now complete! Having endured Covid shutdowns, quickly followed by a boom in trade at the same time as a national glass shortage….. it has been a challenging period. We are now excited to commence with installation of new state of the art machinery that starts the major investments being made for the future here at Custom Glass……. Watch this space!
